Time running out to renew registration by 30 November

21 Nov 2016

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioners have until 30 November to renew their registration on time.

To date, 40 per cent of the 600 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioners due to renew registration have already applied online.

Practitioners should act on the series of email and hard copy reminders being sent to them by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), on behalf of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia. Anyone who hasn’t received a reminder to renew should phone AHPRA on 1300 419 495.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioners whose application for general registration is received on time, or during the following one month late period, can continue practising while their application is processed.

Individuals who do not apply to renew their registration by 31 December 2016 will have lapsed registration. They will be removed from the national register of practitioners and will not be able to use the protected title or practise as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practitioners.
