Have your say: updated accreditation standards

20 May 2025

The Accreditation Committees for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practice, Chinese medicine, medical radiation practice and podiatry invite you to give feedback on their draft updated accreditation standards.

Accreditation standards are used to assess whether a program of study provides graduates of the program with the knowledge, skills and professional attributes necessary to practise the profession in Australia.

The purpose of the review is to refresh existing standards to reduce duplication, enhance consistency between the standards of the four professions and reflect the priorities of the National Scheme.

‘The standards have been updated to reflect some of the biggest challenges currently affecting health practitioner education and practice’, said Dr Meeuwis Boelen, Chair of the Podiatry Accreditation Committee.

Dr Louise McCall, Chair of the Medical Radiation Practice Accreditation Committee said, ‘the updated accreditation standards are clearer, less repetitive and provide more guidance where required.’

Public consultation on the draft standards is open until 25 June 2025. Find out more about the consultation and how to provide feedback on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health practice – Accreditation consultations webpage.
