You will soon receive an email from Ahpra, with details and links to follow to renew. The steps to renew are slightly different, following the introduction earlier this year of a new operating system.
We encourage you to renew now and avoid delays at our busiest time, especially if you need to log in to the Ahpra portal for the first time. The earlier you can log in and renew, the better, as customer service wait times get longer in end of the month rush.
Your renewal fee is listed on the Fees page of the Board website. Ahpra will email your renewal receipt shortly after we receive your payment.
We have a new online portal with multifactor authentication for extra security. Before you can renew, you need to log in to your new portal and link an authenticator app.
You don’t need to pay for an authenticator app – we recommend the free Google Authenticator app as it’s compatible with our operating system.
Look for the app with this icon in Apple’s App store or the Google Play store.
Do not delete the app once you have linked it to your portal, as you need the 6-digit code sent from the app each time you log in. After you have linked the authenticator app, you can attach an account name to the code in the app for easy reference next time, e.g. ‘Ahpra portal’.
Visit the Ahpra portal help centre for step-by-step guides, instruction videos and troubleshooting tips on logging in and linking the app.
You have until 30 November to renew without incurring a late fee. If you submit your application on time, or during the following one-month late period, you can continue practising while your application is assessed.
If you don’t renew before the end of the late period, 31 December 2025, your registration will lapse, you’ll be removed from the register of practitioners, and you won’t be able to use the protected title for your profession.
The renewal FAQs on the Ahpra website cover common questions on professional indemnity insurance, recency of practice, continuing professional development, and what to do if you have a change in your criminal history or health impairments you need to tell us about. You don’t need to tell us about well managed health conditions that do not affect your practice.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement and Support team is staffed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples who provide a one-on-one service and are available to assist you navigate your registration renewal.
Please email the team at [email protected] if you would like assistance.
The register of practitioners is updated every day, making it the safest way for practitioners, employers and the public to check registration status.
